Campbell has over 14 years private and public sector experience in the minerals industry.
Campbell started his career as an exploration geologist in Western Australia working on several gold, nickel and iron projects. This was followed by involvement on a copper project in Bolivia.
Most recently he was the New Zealand Country Manager for Neptune Minerals Plc, a company focussed on the exploration and development of marine minerals. This role involved participation in all aspects of the company’s business including stakeholder and environmental management, exploration planning and corporate affairs. The role also included managing stakeholder relations for the company in PNG and Vanuatu.
Prior to this role, Campbell managed the Minerals Unit within the Crown Minerals Group of the Ministry of Economic Development. Here he managed a team of technical and business support staff responsible for the assessment of applications made to prospect, explore or mine for minerals in New Zealand. The role also involved preparing and implementing the minerals investment strategy for New Zealand, and advising Ministers on a regular basis.
Campbell has also acted as a consultant to several mineral exploration companies in New Zealand and Australia, providing advice on government legislation and regulation, local and regional government consenting, land access and exploration planning and management.
